A Steam launch-week plan is a control document for release, support and communication. It should show owners, dependencies and stopping rules—not fixed 2026 platform statistics.

Before the week

Complete Steamworks onboarding, store review and build review. Test depots, packages, default branch, price, discount and release controls from a clean account. Follow Valve’s current release documentation.

Assign owners

Name the people responsible for release control, technical triage, community, commercial reports and external communication. Publish an escalation and handover path.

Prepare the schedule

  • Launch announcement and verified store link.
  • Creator and press follow-ups.
  • Support coverage and known-issues updates.
  • Optional broadcast with separate technical owner.
  • Daily review of build and player health.

Protect the release

Keep a rollback build, backup, crash reporting and server monitoring. Pause promotion if a critical fault prevents play. Communicate verified information rather than optimistic repair times.

Measure the week

Review Steam traffic, UTM campaigns, units, net receipts, refunds, reviews, support and technical health. Compare with the forecast and baseline. Annotate coverage, discounts and patches.

Close deliberately

Publish an accurate status, triage remaining issues and schedule the first meaningful update. Record what worked. The plan is successful when players can buy, play and receive support while the team remains capable of continuing.
